| 14:15 – 15:45 (1.5 hrs) | ABP operates four ports on the Humber estuary – Immingham, Grimsby, Hull and Goole – and is the Statutory Harbour Authority (‘air traffic control’ and more) for the whole estuary. The Humber is the UK’s biggest gateway for trade by volume, handling 17% of all UK trade. The vast majority of this is facilitated by ABP’s Humber ports which handle £60bn+ of trade, generate £6.6bn+ of value added for the UK economy and support 90k+ jobs in the broader Yorkshire & Humber region. ABP’s Humber ports are less than 24 hours from a European market of 170 million people and ideally positioned to provide a gateway for Northern Europe and beyond. The Port of Hull, alongside ABP’s container facilities in Immingham, recently benefited from £50m investment and together handle over 100,000 containers each year. Hull provides comprehensive storage solutions for all types of containers, including refrigerated units and hazardous goods. Hull is also an important ferry hub offering regular services to Rotterdam. As well as containers, ferry travel and Ro-Ro, Hull specialises in handling forest products and a range of bulk commodities. It has good rail connectivity. At Green Port Hull, Siemens Energy manufacture blades for the world’s largest offshore wind farms. Hull also acts as a marshalling port for offshore wind farms. The turbine towers and nacelles are manufactured abroad and imported into Hull, where some pre-assembly takes places before these components, along with the blades, are shipped out to the North Sea, where the wind farms are constructed. Sofia (an RWE project) recently completed construction this summer with Hornsea 3 (Orsted project) set to commence this Autumn. | 14.00 -15.45 (1.5 hrs) | ABLE UK is a strategic land and port developer, a global leader in marine recycling, and an offshore wind port operator. On the South Humber Bank, the Group is progressing plans for the UK’s first offshore wind cluster port at the 330-hectare Able Humber Port (AHP). The development will provide 1,349 metres of heavy-duty deep-water quays and 1,408 metres of berthing, targeted to be ready in 2029. At the adjacent 233.79-acre Able Energy Park (AEP), the Group is also advancing clean energy, logistics and data centre developments. |
